A Little Bit About Me
Welcome to my little corner of the internet!
I’m a 50-year-old woman who has never quite mastered the art of behaving her age. I’ve been known to act like I’m still in my 20s, although these days I’m increasingly convinced that my body thinks I’m closer to 70. Apparently, turning 50 comes with a few unexpected software updates — creaky knees, earlier bedtimes and a newfound appreciation for a quiet evening at home!
I’m passionate about one thing above all else: living life to the full. I believe life is far too short to take everything seriously, and I love finding ways to make everyday life a little easier, more enjoyable and, where possible, more fun. That’s really what this blog is all about.
Here I’ll be sharing the tips, tricks, ideas and little discoveries that help me navigate everyday life. Some will be practical, some will hopefully inspire you, and some may simply make you think, “Oh good, it’s not just me!”
Alongside all of this, I’m navigating the wonderful, exhausting and hilarious world of parenting my 9-year old son who appears to be going on 30. Thankfully, I have my husband and partner-in-crime by my side, because raising a tiny adult while trying to remain vaguely responsible ourselves is definitely a team sport!
And then there’s the newest member of our family… our cat.

I never expected to become a cat mum. I’ve always been a dog person, but somehow I was persuaded that having a cat would be easy. Low maintenance, they said. Independent, they said. They clearly lied.
It turns out having a cat is remarkably similar to having another child — except this one has claws, demands food at ridiculous hours and seems to believe the entire house belongs to her. Which, to be fair, it probably does.
When I manage to escape the chaos, I love sewing, reading and writing. Finding time for those things can sometimes feel like an achievement worthy of a medal, but they’re the things that keep me grounded and make me happy.
When it comes to life, I’ve picked up quite a few different hats along the way and thankfully, most of them have come with some useful experience attached!
I’ve worked in different areas of education for many years, supporting from the ages of 3 through to 23. This has given me a real understanding of how people learn, develop and navigate different stages of life. It has also taught me that there is rarely a one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to education; what works brilliantly for one person may be completely useless for another!
I’ve also worked within the private and public health service in a variety of different areas, which has given me insight into the people, systems and challenges involved in healthcare. I’m naturally curious, so I also spend a lot of time reading research and learning about different subjects. I like to understand the why behind things rather than simply accepting that something is true because someone on the internet said so!
And when it comes to business, I’ve been on that journey too. I previously ran my own copywriting business, giving me hands-on experience of working with clients, creating content, understanding audiences and all the highs and lows that come with running your own business.
So, while I certainly don’t claim to know everything, I do have a rather eclectic collection of experience and I love putting it to good use.
However, if you’re looking for a perfectly polished lifestyle blog written by someone who has everything figured out… you may have come to the wrong place!
But if you’d like a little humour, some honest life experiences, useful tips and ideas for making life just that little bit easier, then welcome — I’m glad you’re here.
Because life doesn’t have to be perfect to be brilliant. And getting older definitely doesn’t mean we have to grow up!
