I hadn’t finished just my luck when Adele Parks released this one and it went straight on my wish list! So I couldn’t wait to get stuck into one last secret, I shall enjoy this book review even more remembering how good it was!
One last client
A week at a beautiful French chateau should be an easy final job for Dora. She’s smart, stunning and discreet.
She only needs to convince the other guests that she’s Daniel’s girlfriend.
One last chance
One final, luxurious week and she can leave the dangerous, difficult escort world, because Dora has fallen in love and is ready to embrace a better future.
One last secret
But as the guests assemble, it becomes terrifyingly apparent that putting her past behind her is impossible.
And one last secret could cost Dora everything, including her life…
Theodora the main character is an escort, prostitute or sex worker whatever you call it. She’s glamorous, but not in your face glamorous. She’s a very likeable character but there are moments when I actually don’t like her.
She came over to London to be an actress. Unfortunately you learn quickly that she didn’t conquer. She did many small jobs trying make ends meet but it was never enough. When another barmaid leaves to be an escort Dora follows.
The story line is so believable I got caught up in it.
She’s thrown into a different world, convincing herself she is acting. She has her regular punters, Daniel being one of them. She becomes friendly with Daniel and seems to learn more and more about him and his obsession with his best friends wife sisi.
At this point in time I am literally looking forward to getting back to the story all day. I cannot put it down.
Then she decides to retire, after a proposal. However Daniel contacts her for one last job. Can she sneak this one in whilst her fiancé is away? Before she starts her new life?
I was hooked from the start, reading that first liner “no little girl dreams of being an escort”. I knew it was going to be gritty and I knew Adele parks style of writing.
So many twists and turns in this book, all the way through I had my theory that Evan was behind everything.
This world Dora delved into, so many traps that could’ve happened. So many dodgy characters that have got her in so much trouble. But she held her own and ended up winning this story!
Gripping story line with characters both loveable and loathable. Loved how the setting went from the grim streets of London to the requisite South of France.
