When you’re packing for your holiday what are the main things that you pack? Clothes, toiletries, jewellery? What jewellery would you pack? Would you pack anything different to what you normally wear? Do you take special pieces to match different outfits? You may think that a holiday or vacation could be the perfect time to wear some of your jewellery. It is something that you might even think is a very important thing to think about, but what jewellery but should you wear on your holiday or vacation? In this post I’m going to share with you some ideas that can help show you how to take jewellery when travelling.

Take care with expensive/sentimental items

You should be wary of taking expensive and sentimental items with you while travelling. Certain items of valuable jewellery could make you a target for thieves in some places around the world. You also run the risk of losing jewellery in transit or while taking part in an activity. Items of significant sentimental value are impossible to replace. This is why it’s worth embracing simpler high street jewellery even if you are travelling to somewhere luxurious. If you really don’t want to leave a certain valuable or sentimental item at home there are a few ways to keep your jewellery secure and safe as you travel

Bring some boho bracelets

Travelling is a great time to embrace your inner hippie by wearing some boho jewellery dependant on where you’re going. This is jewellery that typically has a tribal or ethnic influence incorporating ropes, stones and beads. Boho bracelets are a popular option that are great for complimenting beachwear. Multiple bracelets can be worn stacked on either one or both arms and look elegant as well as being practical. Some people even collect bracelets from different places they travel to, using their bracelets to tell a story of their adventures.

Decorate your ankles

A holiday or vacation is often a time for wearing sandals and getting our legs out. As a result they are the perfect time for wearing anklets or toe rings. They can be a great accessory for beach holidays (although you may still want to take them off before going in the sea.) The likes of this wife anklet could be a great option. Do your research online to find the right style for you.

Bring jewellery for different occasions

While you may want to keep your holiday or vacation mostly casual, there could be a night when you want to treat yourself to some fine dining. A sophisticated necklace or earrings could be great for these evenings. As mentioned above you should take care with anything too blingy or expensive. There are lots of simple and cheap items that can still look sophisticated.

Keep it practical

Certain jewellery may not be practical if you’re going to be doing a lot of outdoor adventures. In fact in these cases anything dangly that could catch on something would be best avoided. So choosing studs over pendant earrings and avoid long necklaces that aren’t tucked into a top. When doing certain outdoor activities with an instructor or guide you’ll usually be told whether or not it’s safe to wear certain jewellery.

Less is more

When architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe once said ‘less is more’ he wasn’t far wrong. I personally love jewellery, but I think simple is best as it’s a more classic. A few bangles, stud earrings and an anklet would compliment any outfit.
