If you have children there is nothing more important to you than their health and wellbeing. Healthy children are happy children after all. These days we are in a busy world and unfortunately sometimes it’s difficult to be vigilant about their wellbeing. However it doesn’t always have to be so time consuming and difficult. It’s about quality over quantity if time is precious. Here are a few ways how to take care of your childrens’ wellbeing easily on a regular basis.
One to Ones
If time is especially difficult in your household there is no reason to fear. Talking with your children individually letting them know that you care and that you are there for them will help. A good conversation can be generally just before bed time. As well as their defences being down, they will also enjoy avoiding going to sleep! Doing this every day will allow you to keep an eye on their emotional health. If anything does seem wrong you will be able to sense it straight away. When their defences are down you can garner more information about what is wrong and go from there. Developing a good understanding of your children’s emotional health is essential as they grow up.
Check-ups
Ensuring that your children all have their check-ups is a no brainer. Regular visits to the dentist, optometrist, doctors and any other more specialist healthcare they may require is all essential parenting. If you do not get a child a brace when they need it it could cost them so much. Mental health issues as a result of a lack of confidence due to a crooked smile. Then there are the physical issues with teeth breaking and crushing up against each other. It makes sense to stay local when it comes to doctors and dentists especially if you are busy. A village dental is far preferable to travelling a long distance to and from.
Diet
What you feed your children is a pivotal part of their overall health. Home cooking is the preferred option, but I know this doesn’t suit everyone. There are many ways to combat this, having recently purchased an air fryer I wholly recommend doing this. Giving us the ability to cook anything from chicken or making cookies. The other alternative which is a favourite one in our house is cooking in bulk. Once a month for the last twenty years we cook larger meals. Curry, bolognaise sauce and roast chicken in gravy have always been firm favourites and then we freeze it. Then they can be cooked in the oven easily once defrosted to make a delicious evening meal during the week when you have limited time.
When you go to the supermarket try picking more fresh meat, fruit and vegetables avoiding the processed foods. Learn some new recipes too. The more adventurous you can be, the more you and your children will enjoy cooking. Why not try and involve the kids in the kitchen? Get them to chop the onions or choose a recipe. Perhaps even get them to choose one of those strange and exotic vegetables you see in the vegetable aisle. This is one of the things we enjoy doing in our house. In the summer it’s a fruit and in the winter it’s a vegetable and it’s a different one each week.
Diet is more important than exercise when it comes to your weight. If you can develop a lot of good habits and instil these in your children it is a great start in life for them. Most of the time children tend to follow what we do so if you already take part in exercise it’s a good start. Try and encourage them to take part in something too which will help with their diet and mental health.
