Marian Keyes has always been a favourite of mine, it’s like going back home but growing up with it. So when I heard another book had been published I couldn’t download it quick enough. So here is my book review of The Break, Marian Keyes.

As some of my followers may already notice I’ve not been doing much blogging as of late. Mainly because of my change of lifestyle. Not great for my creativity but I’ve managed to get some ‘light’ reading in.  I just have recently finished this book and Marian doesn’t disappoint with this one.  I do love being able to escape into a story.

Sypnosis of The Break

Amy’s husband Hugh says he isn’t leaving her. He still loves her, he’s just taking a break – from their marriage, their children and, most of all, from their life together. Six months to lose himself in south-east Asia. And there is nothing Amy can say or do about it. Yes, it’s a mid-life crisis, but let’s be clear: a break isn’t a break up – yet . . . However, for Amy it’s enough to send her – along with her extended family of gossips, misfits and troublemakers – teetering over the edge. For a lot can happen in six-months. When Hugh returns if he returns, will he be the same man she married? And will Amy be the same woman? Because if Hugh is on a break from their marriage, then isn’t she?

Book review

To be honest it made a refreshing change to read something a bit different. It was written just how I expected it and I loved it. This is how I enjoy a book and what I love about Marians’ stories. The little anecdotes and the sense of humour that you get from each of the characters.  You can almost hear Amys’ Irish accent and the butch-ness of Hugh and the way he goes about things.  

Some may see this as a bit predictable though, although I hate giving any spoilers BUT I would definitely read with an open mind and if you like this genre just enjoy it rather than trying to figure out the ending.

Look out for the vlogger and grandmother plot in this story, if almost adds a new type of edge to this novel.
